5 Minute Mobility.

Waking up stiff and sore? 

As advocates for holistic wellness, we understand the importance of starting your day with intention and care for your body. One powerful way to do this is through a morning stretch routine designed to increase mobility and flexibility. Whether you're an early riser or need a gentle wake-up call, these simple stretches will set the tone for a day filled with vitality and movement.

1. **Neck Rolls**: Begin by gently tilting your head forward, rolling it to one side, and then slowly bringing it back to center. Repeat this motion on the other side. This stretch releases tension in the neck and improves range of motion.

2. **Shoulder Stretch**: Lift your shoulders up towards your ears, then roll them back and down in a smooth motion. Hold for a few seconds, then reverse the movement, rolling your shoulders forward. This stretch loosens tightness in the shoulders and upper back.

3. **Spinal Twist**: Sit or stand tall, then gently twist your torso to one side, using your opposite hand to support the stretch. Hold for a few breaths, then switch to the other side. This stretch promotes spinal mobility and relieves stiffness in the back.

4. **Cat/Cow**: On the floor get into a table-top position (all fours). Gently arch your back and bring your chin down, inhale. Upon exhale, drop your back and extend your head towards ceiling. Repeat 10x.

5. **Hip Opener**: Step one foot forward into a lunge position, keeping your back leg straight and your front knee aligned with your ankle. Sink into the stretch, feeling a gentle opening in the hip flexors. Hold for a few breaths, then switch sides.

6. **Calf Stretch**: Find a wall or sturdy surface to support yourself. Step one foot back and press the heel into the ground, keeping the leg straight. Lean forward slightly to deepen the stretch in the calf muscle. Hold, then switch legs.

7. **Ankle Circles**: Sit or stand comfortably and lift one foot off the ground. Rotate your ankle in clockwise and counterclockwise circles, focusing on smooth, controlled movements. This stretch improves ankle mobility and can help prevent stiffness.

Remember to breathe deeply and mindfully throughout your morning stretch routine, allowing oxygen to flow freely to your muscles and joints. Start with gentle movements and gradually increase the intensity as your body wakes up. By incorporating these stretches into your daily routine, you'll not only enhance your mobility but also cultivate a greater sense of well-being and vitality to carry with you throughout the day.
